David Friedman is the Thomas M. Siebel Professor of Law at the University of Chicago, where he also directs the Program on Law, Culture & Society. His research focuses on law and economics, constitutional law, torts, and tort liability. He is currently writing a book on free speech in American courts which will be published by Oxford University Press
His first book, Libertarianism: A Primer (University of Chicago Press), won the Mises Prize for best libertarian book of 2005. Friedman is a frequent commentator on legal and political issues and has been featured on C-SPAN and other national and international media outlets.
